Rehydrating and Restoring Electrolytes

By Art Zemach, MD

Tailwind Rebuild contains just the right amounts of the four most important electrolytes for recovery after exercise: sodium, potassium, calcium, and magnesium.

Sodium helps keep your body hydrated. In your body, “water follows salt.” You need salt, or sodium, to hold water in your cells and in your bloodstream. Potassium is important for the proper functioning of almost every cell in your body.

Drinking Tailwind fuel is a great way to stay in salt balance and keep hydrated during long workouts. Afterward, each serving of Tailwind Rebuild contains just the right amount of sodium and potassium to match the 500 ml (that’s 16 oz, or one small bike water bottle) of water that you mix it in. And, it adheres to WHO (World Health Organization) oral rehydration standards.

Calcium helps your muscles and nerves work properly. You have an enormous supply of calcium in your bones, and your body will take calcium from your bones if you’re not getting enough from your diet.

Magnesium is important for calcium function. If your magnesium level is low, your calcium will not work properly. We do not intend Tailwind Rebuild to be a calcium or magnesium supplement, but we do add enough calcium and magnesium to replace losses from an hour's worth of sweat.
